*Purpose:*Responsible for day-to-day accounting activities for all financially settled transactions for Commercial Operations. This includes month-end and quarter-end accounting close and reporting tasks related to financial trades (power, oil, gas, coal, emissions, weather, and options) as well as month-end checkouts with our financial counterparties.
* Responsibilities:*
Responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for all financially settled trades.
Responsible for recording the month-end settled financial revenue for power, oil, gas, coal, emissions, and weather.
Handle the settlement and tie-out process for all financially settled trades including invoicing and checkout with various financial counterparties.
Responsible for accounting, analysis, and settlement of intercompany financial transactions.
Work closely with trading desk to understand trading strategies for power and fuel, as well as the products used such as futures, options, and/or swaps.
Perform the monthly reconciliation of our clearing accounts.
Handle the invoicing and payment of all option premiums as well as updating the option premium amortization schedule and recording the amortization of the premiums at month-end.
Record all margin return and margin interest invoices.
Record FCM broker fee accrual.
Assist in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Perform various balance sheet reconciliations for Commercial Operations accounts.
Assist with special projects as requested.
*Qualifications:*
Bachelor s degree in accounting with two to five years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
Ability to work independently in team oriented culture in a fast paced environment.
Prior experience in the energy industry or similar commodity based business preferred with emphasis on financially settled trades.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with SAP or other similar ERP system is preferred. Knowledge of Aligne or similar trading system is preferred.
